Welcome to HMIS of Summit County In 2001 Congress directed the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to ensure the collection of more reliable data regarding the use of homeless programs. HUD has required all Continuum of Care agencies who receive funding to participate in HMIS (Homeless Management Information System). However, to gain the fullest understanding of homelessness and the use of homeless services over time, we are seeking participation from all homeless service providers, regardless of whether they have or ever will receive government funding. Info Line, Inc. has been selected as the host agency of Summit County's HMIS. Currently, HMIS is using a software application called ServicePoint. It is a powerful web-based information management system that provides client tracking and case management, service and referral management, bed availability for shelters, resource indexing, and reporting. Who Should Participate in HMIS Homeless programs that receive any of the following federal funds are required to participate in HMIS. Supportive Housing Program (SHP) Shelter Plus Care (S+C) Single Room Occupancy Moderate Rehabilitation (SRO Mod Rehab) Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA) Programs that receive other sources of funding are not required to participate in HMIS, but are strongly encouraged to do so to contribute to a better understanding of homelessness in our community. Benefits of HMIS To Participating Agencies Enables agencies to have accurate information about the clients they serve. Saves staff and management time needed to gather client data and complete funding reports. Enables agencies to track client outcomes and measure the success of the services provided during a given time period. Helps agencies improve the quality of the services provided. To the Community Informs government and the community about the extent and nature of homelessness in the state and the community. Enable better communication about housing and support needs to potential funders and policy-makers.
