Summit County HMIS Project Overview

Background:

Info Line, Inc. is selected as the host agency of Summit County’s HMIS. With the monies received for this project, Info Line will have responsibility for purchasing and installing the network equipment and software; training all users; compiling aggregate outcome reports; maintaining disaster recovery plans; and ensuring that the project meets the needs of the County as well as those of the participating agencies.

  • Bowman’s ServicePoint is selected as Summit County’s software of choice.
  • As of July, 2006 there are currently 14 agencies (approximately 35 Homeless shelter programs) participating in the Akron/Summit County HMIS.

New Aggressive Goals and Objectives:

  • Eligibility determination within HMIS: This feature will allow each agency to quickly find available resources for their clients after answering questions relating to the client's eligibility for the service.
  • Community Voice Mail: We are currently seeking the funding that will allow agencies to provide a free voicemail box to their homeless clients.  Use of this service will be tracked in our HMIS database.
  • Participation Expansion: HMIS plans to incorporate mainstream homeless service providers who provide services such as HEAP, PIP, WIC, PRC, Medicaid, Healthy Start/Healthy Families, SSI, Food Stamps, Passport, Public Housing, Child Care Subsidy, Ohio Works First, and Mobile Meals.
  • Supportive Services: Faith-based Homeless service providers and Homeless Supportive Service providers in Akron/Summit County are being encouraged to participate in our HMIS database.
